How to freeze cookie dough

There is no doubt about it–a homemade cookie is one of the best desserts, if not the best. I believe Alton Brown has the best recipe. We make a huge batch and freeze the dough at least once a month and freeze. I am going to let you in on the secret of how to freeze cookie dough!

It is probably no surprise that I love to close the night with a warm chocolate chip cookie, typically after the kids go to bed! The problem I would run into with fresh cookies is the store-bought break-a-part cookies would go bad before I could finish them. Homemade cookies taste better, but with those is I thought I had to bake them all at once. I started rolling them up like the tube from the store but that is hard (and a little dangerous) to cut.

So one day while chatting with a friend about my nightly routine. I decided I was going to make her a freezer batch of cookies. I wanted to make it as easy as possible for her to enjoy the cookies. This is when realized I could use the cookie scooper to make perfectly portioned cookies freeze them, then pull out as many as need at the time and bake.

This is the recipe we use. You can get your printable here:
