Top 5 Big Chop Must-Have Products

I recently had a big chop. Although I was nervous because I haven’t seen my natural hair since I was 8 years old, I am so happy with my choice. So I am listing my top five big chop must-have products for you! Now, these suggestions are based on my hair type–3c/4a.–I am not a professional.

I made the choice to start allowing my natural hair to grow out for a few reasons 1. I don’t like to get relaxers while I am pregnant. 2. I had been wearing my wig most days so I wasn’t going to relax my hair. It breaks off too easily, especially in the front. 3. I like wearing my hair in flat-twist and they work best with my natural hair texture.

When I first got my big chop, my natural hair was extremely dry and I thought I had a 4c hair type, but after deep conditioning moisturizing for ONE MONTH–yes a whole month, I discovered my true hair type. It is very important to nourish and moisturize your curls so find your favorite deep conditioner. Mine is Africa’s Best Orig Hair Mayonnaise because it works best for my hair. Most of the time I put on a plastic hair cap and sleep with it under my silk bonnet.

I have been on a journey of learning how to take care of natural black hair and it has led me to my top 5 Big Chop Must-Have Products. These products have completely changed my hair.–Best part: all at Walmart and Walgreens!

I listed them in the order I use them. So, I start with the co wash, then the leave-in As I Am conditioner and Mielle leave-in conditioner, followed by Miss Jessie’s Multicultural Curls, lastly the Moroccanoil. I have had such great results and I hope you do too!

I know the oil is very expensive! There are many alternatives! I just listed exactly what I have been using so far on my natural hair journey! Have you gotten your big chop yet?
