Ten things about the Cherrisse in Chicago

1: Cherrisse is in Chicago-“land”, not from Chicago
I am from a small town in Kentucky. My family has been stationed in Chicagoland for a couple of years now. We love it! I do miss Kentucky’s autumns though. Perfect weather and good football!

2: Loves origin stories
I love learning about people: how you met your spouse or where you grew up. I also love a good storyteller. You know, the people who pull you in with their words and know exactly when to add a joke and when to be serious?!

3: Loves making lists
I love a good TDL (to-do list)! Or any list really! I can be short-term forgetful. “The biggest lie I tell myself is ‘I don’t need to write that down, I’ll remember.'”

4: Hates sticking to said list
I do not like being told what to do, even when it from me, LOL! I know it is so silly! I try to get TDLs completed quickly, but there is always something to do. A mama’s work is never finished!

5: Makes lots of jokes.
My jokes are typically a pun or “Dad” joke. I think I am really funny, but I am me, LOL. Side note: I am the person who laughs at the wrong time–it happens often. I don’t like being serious all the time. It is so boring!

6: Listener more than a talker
I would rather listen than talk especially the first few times I meet someone–I am growing out of this especially since being at home with only my family for four months. Also– I have a lot of questions. Like so many that I could understand if someone felt like they were on trial, haha.

7: Books, books, books
Reading is really my favorite thing to do when I am alone. Reading can take you anywhere and you can learn anything! I seek to grow in every aspect of my life. When someone I know can’t give me an answer I turn to book. I love personal development and beach reads, completely different, I know.

8: LOVES Bible studies with other people
I believe the best way to learn the Bible is with other people. I observe Christians try to paint life as perfect–that is NOT TRUE and it is a disservice to everyone. I always find comfort in seeing I am not the only one who has gone through a hard time. When Christians get together to share their struggles they can also share how they reached their triumphs and help others do the same. (Scriptures, quotes, and Truth)

9: People person-ish
I have not always been a people person. I had a light bulb moment the other day. Personality or mood. Am I seeing someone’s personality or mood? We all have bad moods when we can get a little grouchy.  I have told myself I need to consider if I am seeing someone’s personality or mood, hope it is a mood until I have spent enough time with them to prove otherwise.

10: adds “-ish” to everything because she doesn’t have many absolutes.
I have been adding “-ish” to my words. “I would like my steak medium-ish, because medium is too bloody and medium-well isn’t bloody enough.” Haha, I am working on myself. #WorkInProgress

Bonus: loves setting and achieving goals
I don’t like feeling lost. I like to know where I am going. I think I wasted a few years by just going with the flow and seeing where life would take me. Life was taking me nowhere. So I got a vision and have been working to get where I need to go since then. I love feeling accomplished. Setting smaller goals/landmarks help me recognize where I am on the journey. Are you goal-oriented or task-oriented?
