How to find your life goals

Hey Mama, how have you been? It has been an interesting week for us up here in Chicagoland. As things are opening amid the pandemic, I am reminded of the things I want to accomplish.
Last week, I talked about how I lost my dreams and how I found them again, did you get a chance to read my last post? One of the things I mentioned multiple times is I didn’t find my dreams/goals all by myself, I had help! My friend turned mentor asked me questions that made me think outside of the “safe” box. When I admitted the answers honestly, I then had the responsibility to do everything I could to make them happen. My first step was identifying my goals, today I am sharing three of my top goals and how I identified them.
1. Be completely debt-free.
This is such a huge goal for me! I knew from a young age that I didn’t want to live paycheck to paycheck. I certainly don’t want to owe someone for the rest of my life. Student loans, cars, homes—paid-off early, paying cash for awesome vacations! I notice people expect to go through life living outside of their means and paying off debt month after month to put it plainly: we unequivocally disagree.
We have both gone through Financial Peace University. My husband read Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki and it really changed his viewpoint on money. For me it was The Compound Effect by Darren Hardy. It isn’t a book specifically about money, but about habits. We follow the Dave Ramsey method. but we are especially mindful of multiple streams of income. Our current focus is building ongoing income. Are you a multi-stream of income family? What are you doing to create a new stream of income for yourself and your family?
2. Help others create families by giving abundantly to adoption foundations.
Adoption runs deep in my family. I am aware that just a few different emotional decisions could have altered my life is overwhelming. And, goodness, I have witnessed some of the sweetest adoptions. While in KS I feel God really stoked the fire for adoption in my heart. Almost nothing is as rewarding as witnessing a child become a son or daughter! Or a woman become a mother–in any capacity really, but especially through adoption! The name of the blog is The MAMA RX, of course I love moms.
To think, money is the only thing holding a child back from becoming a son or daughter is heartbreaking. I cannot wait to be part of the solution! Are you familiar with adoption? Have you pursued it for yourself?
3. Take my whole family on vacation.
Yes, it sounds so unattainable, but it happens every day. Why can’t it happen for me? I would LOVE to take my family away just for a little bit about a week—mostly because my dad can’t be away for too long. He gets bored quickly, haha! — Completely paid for so there isn’t a financial burden on anyone. They just have to take off of work! What is completely paid for? Flights, cars, rental, food! Ev.ery.thing! It would just be awesome to get us together so we can make a few memories together. Does your whole family travel together?
I have a friend and they travel legit 30 deep—cousins, husbands, wives, kids, grandparents. It has always been so fun to hear about her vacations! I want to experience it for myself. I know we would have a blast!

There are three of my top goals! Can we agree they are pretty lofty? I can’t wait to see them come to fruition.
How I identified my goals
When I am creating big goals I start with what is most important to me, it is always God the Father and family. Then I ask myself “why?” Why do I need to be debt-free, why do I need to help babies find their forever homes, and why do I want to go on vacation with my entire family? To find your big goals I encourage you to do the same. What is most important to you? Why is it the most important? Once you figure out your why you will yearn to see your goals come to fruition!
If only one thing remains with you after you read this post I hope it is this: Any dream or goal you have in your heart is attainable. Do the work and you can achieve it. You may be still be finding out what is most important to you, and you may not know your why, it took me awhiiiile; that is okay! Big goals take time! I encourage you to take your time figuring them out and then going for it! Once you achieve those goals find your next goals to crush and do it again!
So, I shared mine, your turn! What goals are you working toward?
