Who is Jesus? Day One
Day 1
Outlook for the Month
This month we will explore who Jesus is. For some of us it is getting deeper and for others it may be just getting started. No matter where you are, you are welcome here! This month’s passage to store in our hearts is John 3:16-17– 16For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. (Emphasis mine.)
As Christians we get so caught up in the “platitudes” of our faith we miss the verses that come before and after. We say common verses and expect others to know as much about the verse as we do. Or, may I dare to say, be viewed as wiser than we actually are? Many people can recite John 3:16 no problem (believer or not). You can see it anywhere from the social media to bumper stickers.
Knowing scripture is excellent! I am challenging us to actively seek out more knowledge to build a firm foundation in Christ. I chose John 3:16-17 for this exact reason, I know it, but I could know it better. I am an investigator. As investigator, I am inclined to ask “why did God send his son?” Although the verse 16 does have an answer within it, verse 17 does flesh it out some more.
Please join me for the next few days to look a little closer at the why of Christ. While investigating we will all find out Who is Jesus.
Memory Verse: John 3:16-17- For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
Questions:
Do you know Jesus? Would you like to know him better?
